My hubby Jim got hooked on Genealogy on his Mission to Brasil. When we got engaged he said that he'd like us to do Genealogy every Sunday. Of course being the deep spiritual person that I was at that time I put my finger down my throat and gagged (thinking to myself what have I gotten myself into?) Putting names on lines didn't set with me well but learning about the lives of those named by typing up their histories helped make them real to me. We have had "Un-birthday, birthday parties" on relatives birthday's that we didn't know that died before we were born. Our children and now our Grandchildren have enjoyed those parties in the past. For Jim's father's mother we had Neph come prepared to talk about his mother so his grandchildren and great-grandchildren could learn about their "Poppy" Allen's Momma and learn about the things this wonderful women endured and how she raised her family in SLC by herself while her husband lived in Canada with his other family. We had a birthday cake and all for "her day" and Nephi enjoyed so much sharing her life with us.

Nephi's mother Elizabeth and father, Heber; Marge, Neph and children; the home Neph grew up in in Sugar House, Utah; Four Generations of Allen men (Nephi Simeon, James Russell, Daniel Ard & Gavin Ard Allen).
We hosted another special birthday party for my hubby's Momma one year in our home along with his siblings and their families. We called it "The Queen for a Day" party. I made up an album for her and filled it was letters and cards sent from her children and grandchildren living out of State that couldn't attend but wanted to be a part of the celebration of her birth and letter's of love and appreciation from all of us that were attending. We collected songs from her growning up years and some were performed by her son's and other's were sung by our own inhouse talented Becky. It was a fun evening that has been remembered for a long time. We even created a throne for her to sit in during the evening.
